Avoid alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours before your session; it thins the blood and increases bleeding.
Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and certain supplements unless prescribed. Speak to your doctor if you’re prescribed blood-thinning medication.
4. Eat a Good Meal
Eat a full, healthy meal about 1-2 hours before your appointment. This helps stabilize your blood sugar and keeps you from getting lightheaded.
5. Get Enough Sleep
Being well-rested reduces anxiety, pain sensitivity, and fatigue during longer sessions.
6. Wear Comfortable Clothing
Choose clothes that give easy access to the area getting tattooed.
Wear dark colours in case of ink or blood transfer.
7. Avoid Sunburn and Tanning
Don’t get sunburned. Damaged skin can’t be tattooed and will likely require rescheduling.
8. Shave the Area (If Advised)
If you're comfortable and your artist suggests it, shave the area gently the night before.
If unsure, let the artist handle it to avoid cuts or irritation.
9. Bring Snacks and Entertainment
For long sessions, bring water, snacks, and headphones to stay comfortable and occupied.
10. Know What You Want
Communicate your vision to the best of your ability regarding design and placement. Discuss any final questions with your artist ahead of time if possible.
